Rice organized the Annapolis Conference of November 27,which focused on finding a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem. Rice also worked actively to improve human rights issues in Iran and supported the passage of a United Nations Security Council Resolution for sanctions against the country unless its uranium enrichment program was curtailed.

I never wanted to run for anything. I don't think I even ran for class anything in school. I'm enough of an historian to know that my reputation will be what my reputation is. It might be different in five months from five years to 50 years, and so I'm simply not going to worry about that. I think September 11th was one of those great earthquakes that clarify and sharpen.
Events are in much sharper relief. People may oppose you, but when they realize you can hurt them, they'll join your side. Throughout her time teaching, Rice actively pursued a career in politics. Inshe advised President George H. Bush, becoming the first black woman to hold this position. She was the first African American woman to hold this position.

She has published several books including her two autobiographies. She also serves on the board of several companies including the Boys and Girls Club. Although she did not pursue a career as a musician, Rice continues to play the piano. She also supports the arts through several charities. While working in Washington DC, Rice took up golfing as a leisure activity.
