He is loyal and honest, because he was taught to be that way as a boy. This biography gives much insight into how his faith and upbringing in the town of Hope, Arkansas, shaped the polite, hard-working and kind man we see today--an unusual example in the often cunning and crafty world of politics. I learned that Mike Huckabee was truly remarkable, even as a youth, and how his interest in politics was honed at Boy's State, where he was elected "governor" while running for the office almost as an afterthought.
I learned to appreciate the way that his faith in Jesus Christ shaped and formed the direction of his life, as he detoured from what might have been an early political career into a calling into the pastorate and into Christian broadcasting and the rising evangelical movement of the seventies and eighties. I know Gov. Mike Huckabee as an outstanding man of great principle and character in a political world that is often slick and self-serving.
But behind the man is the boy who seemed to accomplish everything "at the age of By the age of 20, he had already had a broadcasting career for eight years, graduated from Ouchita Baptist College three semesters early with a magna cum laude, and married his high school sweetheart, Janet McCain. His ability to debate is as good as anyone's. His ability to inspire crowds to enjoy the goodness of serving and loving this country and working with hope to make it better is unmatched.
He contrasts, as shown in this biography, as a leader with a heart to serve others, and not the common conception of the attention-hungry politician who is in the race to elevate or enrich him or herself. I particularly like the style of Scott Lamb's writing and the fact that it is evident that he spent many hours researching the information, interviewing the main subject of the book--Gov.
Mike Huckabee--as well as friends and other associates, to get an accurate picture of who this man is, how he got to where he is, and why he has perhaps the best ability of any of the candidates in the race to actually govern. This conclusion is based on his outstanding record of accomplishment outlined in the book, and based even more on his gentle but firm character, belief system, and strong intellect.
Any who suppose that because Mike Huckabee came from the hill country of Arkansas that he would be a little less up to date on the world and its problems, or a little unequipped to be President are surely mistaken. As one reads the biography, one sees a most unusual man, equipped for political service, and we could even say, one who would probably make one of the most outstanding Presidents this nation has known.
Yes, his honesty and hesitancy to ask people for money hurts the bottom line in running his campaign. But the fact that he refuses to go against his conscience for the sake of winning makes me respect this man all the more. This authorized biography deserves to be read by every voter in America, for it shines the light on the capabilities and preparation of a most outstanding man from Hope, Arkansas, who could again step into the office once vacated by Gov.
And Huckabee has all the qualities and the hard-work ethic to become a beloved President and statesman like Ronald Reagan, who would again bring back America's confidence, its jobs, and its respect in the world. And who would make us proud again to be called Americans. Difficult to be objective on the subject as I do believe this is the most qualified and dignified man in politics!
The most Reagan-like individual seeking to be President, it confuses me how other Republicans could not see him like I do. He is articulate, intelligent, witty, grounded, with strong convictions and traditional American values. With his Arkansas background, command of the issues, and his superb public speaking ability, I do believe he would have made Hillary Clinton look pathetic in a debate situation.
Scott Lamb writes a very good biography about a man who has lived the "American Dream. Stanley E. I've read several of Huckabee's books, so I didn't know if I would learn anything in this authorized biography.
